Marcus Rubio (More Eaze) is a composer that works in a variety of mediums and genres ranging from pop songs to long form drone works for ensembles of portable fans. His music has been released on Already Dead Tapes, Copy For Your Records, Prairie Fire Tapes, Yawn Tapes, Kendra Steiner Editions, and Test Tube. His compositions have been programmed at SEAMUS,ICMC, EMM, CEMEC and performed by ensembles such as the Soli Chamber Ensemble and the Dogstar Orchestra. As a live performer, he’s collaborated/performed with Faust, Michael Pisaro, Bill Baird, and Cartographers amongst many others. In 2013, he was asked to participate in a number of large ensemble free improvisation gigs where he worked/performed with members of Califone, Akron/Family, Megafaun, and the Circulatory System. He is the winner of an ATAC Globe Award for his musical work on Trinity University’s production of the Bacchae and was selected as the “Best Instrumentalist” in San Antonio in a readers poll in 2010. In 2014, he earned an MFA in Music Composition from the California Institute of the Arts where he worked with Michael Pisaro, Ulrich Krieger, and Wadada Leo Smith amongst others. Rubio is also an active music journalists as a staff writer for Tiny Mix Tapes. He currently plays in the bands Slomo Drags, Matthew Squires and the Learning Disorders, and Real Live Tigers.
